The "75 ski days, 1 million vertical feet" feat

Ski Day#: 36 Date:   01/31/19 YTD totals: 438 Runs/Lift Rides, 517,446  Vertical ft,  457 miles, # of smiles = a shit-ton! Area:   Schweitzer  Weather: High overcast, 30-31*F Snow: Groomed-packed powder and firm, great for carving. Off-piste-very firm, setup Daily stats:  13 Runs, 21,192 Vertical ft, 17.4 miles Best things: Feeling thankful that I'm able (health-wise, physically, monetarily) to ski and reach a 1/2 million vertical feet skied this season. I'm onto to another 1/2 million by mid-April! Also, skiing at least 2 runs on every chairlift today was fun, covering a lot of territory on the mountain. B-Chute and Upper/Lower Kaniksu were super sweet! Celebrated at Serv-A-Burger afterwards!

Ski Day#: 35 Date:   01/29/19 YTD totals: 425 Runs/Lift Rides, 496, 255  Vertical ft., 440 miles,  Area:   49° North   Weather: Blue Skies 25-28*F Snow: Groomed-packed powder and firm. Off-piste, very cut up, 6 day old pow, firm, crusty Best thing: The sun, especially on chair 5. Knowing I'll pass 500,000 vertical feet next time I ski. Daily stats:  8 Runs, 13, 986 Vertical ft,  11.4 miles

Ski Day#: 34 Date:   01/28/19 YTD totals: 417 Runs/Lift Rides, 482,268  Vertical ft.,  428 miles,  Area:   49° North   Weather: Blue Skies, 29-30*F Snow: Groomed - packed powder/some firm, great for carving. Off-piste - very cut up, old powder, crusty/firm in spots, feathers in others Best thing: Meeting and riding the chair with an awesome 80 year old man, whom lives fairly close to me. He's a cancer survivor, Navy vet, USC grad. He said I'll get a free season pass at 49* North when I'm 80. That gives me some long term goals to set! Daily stats:  7 Runs, 12,296 Vertical ft, 10.5 miles

Ski Day#: 33 Date:   01/27/19 YTD totals: 410 Runs/Lift Rides, 469,972  Vertical ft., 417 miles Area:   49° North  Weather: Blue skies, 32*F Snow: Groomed - packed powder/great for carving, Off-piste - cut up 5 day old powder, setup. Best thing: Feeling the sun when riding up Chair 5 and meeting cool, new people on several chair rides. Ringing the bell every time I skied by, twice each time.  Daily stats:  9 Runs, 16,931 Vertical ft, 15.8 miles

Ski Day#: 32 Date:   01/26/19 YTD totals: 401 Runs/Lift Rides, 453,042  Vertical ft., 402 miles,  Area:   49° North  Weather: Blue skies 32*F Snow: Groomed - packed powder, great for cruising and carving, Off-piste - varies from cut up powder, to slightly setup/crusty Best thing: Carving turns, I got my hip about 1 ft off of the snow quite a few times, on lower angled slopes. Daily stats:  7 Runs, 12,539 Vertical ft,  11.6 miles

Ski Day#: 31 Date:   01/25/19 YTD totals: 394 Runs/Lift Rides, 440,502 Vertical ft.,  390 miles Area:   49° North  Weather: Sunny! Snow: 13" of new on 1/23 (closed 1/23-24), Powder Friday! Best thing: What, you have to ask? OK, 3 Runs down Powder Keg were awesome Daily stats:  9 Runs, 13,469 Vertical ft, 12.5 miles Side Note: I noticed this morning before heading up to the hill, that I have frost bite AGAIN, on the tip of my left big toe.

Ski Day#: 30 Date:   01/19/19 YTD totals: 385 Runs/Lift Rides, 427,033 Vertical ft., 377 miles Area:   49° North   Weather: Heavy drizzle and fog (very hard to see the shitty snow you were skiing on). Snow: 3" new which turned crusty Best thing: Driving up to Chair 5 base for the first time. Last time I was in this area was on skis, skiing out before Chair#5 existed. Leaving after skiing 1 run. Daily stats: 1 Runs, 1,458Vertical ft, 1.3 miles

Ski Day#: 27 Date:   01/14/19 YTD totals: 375 Runs/Lift Rides, 406,895  Vertical ft., 359 miles, Area:   49° North Weather: Bluebird skies above a foggy valley. 31-32*F. Snow: Groomed = amazing, Off-piste = not amazing Best thing: Soaking up the sun while riding up Chair#5. Felt so good!  Daily stats:  8 Runs, 11,864 Vertical ft, 10.7 miles

Ski Day#: 26 Date:   01/12/19 YTD totals: 367 Runs/Lift Rides, 395,032  Vertical ft., 348 miles Area:   49° North  Weather: Blue Skies 29-32*F Snow: Groomed - soft, fun. Off-piste -Firm/crusty  Best thing: Cranking turns with those fun Volkl carvers blue skies, and an amazi ng,"forever" view when on the chair lift. Also, not hurting myself as I walked out of my house to drive up to the hill, when I didn't notice the black ice on the stairs and fell down the entire length, while carrying my ski gear.   Daily stats: 9 Runs,  12,728 Vertical ft, 10.5 miles

Ski Day# 25: Date:   01/08/19 YTD totals: 358 Runs/Lift Rides, 382,303  Vertical ft., 338 miles, # of smiles - a bunch Area:   49° North   Weather: mid/upper 20's, high overcast Snow: Groomed - packed powder and some firm. Off-piste - 4" of 1 day old on top of 5"of 2 day old pow. Mission: find the "Pow Stashes". Mission accomplished!! Best thing: Fresh tracks on Wolf Den and Bakken (chair 4 & 6 were closed yesterday). My legs never got fatigued!  Daily stats:  10 Runs, 14, 892Vertical ft, 15 miles

Ski Day# 24: Date:   01/07/19 YTD totals: 348 Runs/Lift Rides, 367,411 Vertical ft., 322 miles, # of smiles Area:   49° North  Weather: Upper 20's, variable weather from high overcast to blue skies to foggy on upper 1/2 Snow: Groomed - packed powder. Off-piste -  4-5" new, light fluuf on top off 1 day old light/dry powder.  Best thing: Some good runs down Powder Keg, Peacemaker, Upper Cy's Daily stats:  10 Runs, 14, 804Vertical ft, 13 miles Took 4 days off before this due to tooth extraction/implant. 

Ski Day # 23: Date:   01/02/19 YTD totals: 338 Runs/Lift Rides, 352,607  Vertical ft, 310 miles Area:   49° North   Weather: High overcast, Low-mid 20's, light breeze at summit Snow: Groomed - awesome packed powder.  Off-piste - very firm/crusty. Best thing: First day skiing in 2019. Great groomers down Silver Ridge/King/Queen with Volkl Code L Speedwall skis.  Daily stats:  7 Runs, 11,787 Vertical ft, 10.2 miles
